Our Speakers

The following are leading scholars critical of Christian Zionism willing to contribute to university courses, conferences, or webinars on the subject.

Mark Battison

Mark is a retired businessman and Anglican Priest who spends time in both Australia and the UK supporting his children and grandchildren. Mark is the Chair of Friends of Sabeel Australia and a trustee of the Peacemaker Trust. He has led multiple pilgrimages and living stones tours to Palestine and focuses much of his time working with others for justice and peace in Palestine.

Tony Deik

Tony Deik, lecturer in biblical studies at Bethlehem Bible College, a Networking Team and board member of the International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation (INFEMIT), and a Research Associate with the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence (CSBV). He is currently a residential researcher at Tyndale House, Cambridge, where he is working on his PhD in New Testament social ethics.

Omar Haramy

Omar Haramy: A mosaic of identities, an Arab Palestinian, a Jerusalemite and a Greek Orthodox Christian. Since 2017, Omar has served as the Director of Sabeel Jerusalem. Omar also serves on the Kairos Palestine steering committee.

Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian

Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian: Nadera is Lawrence D Biele Chair in Law, Institute of Criminology-Faculty of Law, School of Social Work and Social Welfare, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Chair in Global Law, Queen Mary University of London.

Mimi Kirk

Mimi Kirk: Board President of Americans for Middle East Understanding (AMEU) and also a consultant to the Palestinian think tank al-Shabaka. She is co-editor, with Rochelle Davis, of Palestine and the Palestinians in the 21st Century (Indiana University Press, 2013).

Jonathan Kuttab

Jonathan Kuttab: Co-founder of Nonviolence International; Executive Director of Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA); Co-founder of the Palestinian human rights group Al-Haq and Board member of Bethlehem Bible College.

Deanna (Dee) Roberts

Deanna Roberts: Reference and Outreach Librarian, Pitts Theology Library, Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, and Israel Palestine Mission Network (IPMN) Steering Committee.

Joe Roos

Joe Roos: Board member of Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA) and was a co-founder of Sojourners magazine.

Stephen Sizer

Stephen Sizer: Director of Peacemaker Trust; Chair of the Convivencia Alliance; author and researcher on Christian Zionism; international coordinator for the 2024 International Sabeel Gathering and member of the Kairos for Global Justice theology group; Church of England priest (1983-2018).

Don Wagner

Don Wagner: Author, former Professor and Founder/Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, North Park University Chicago. National Program Director of Friends of Sabeel–North America (2012-2017); Presbyterian Church USA clergyperson.

Jesse Steven Wheeler

Jesse Steven Wheeler: M.Div.; Executive Administrator/Development Director at Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA); formerly Projects Manager/Support Faculty for the Institute of Middle East Studies, Arab Baptist Theological Seminary, Beirut, Lebanon; formerly Islamic Studies Coordinator at Fuller Theological Seminary.
