Noura Erekat is a Palestinian-American activist, university professor, legal scholar, and human rights attorney. She received her Juris Doctor from the UC Berkeley School of Law, her L.L.M in National Security from Georgetown University Law Center in 2012, and her L.L.M in Legal Education upon completing the Abraham L. Freedman Teaching Fellowship at Temple University, Beasley School of Law. Erekat is currently a professor at Rutgers University, specializing in international studies. Her primary focus is on international law and human rights. She is a vocal critic of Israel and a prominent public commentator on Palestinian legal and political issues. She is the co-founder of the online publication Jadaliyya.

Justice for Some: Law and the Question of Palestine offers a new approach to understanding the Palestinian struggle for freedom, told through the power and control of international law. Focusing on key junctures—from the Balfour Declaration in 1917 to present-day wars in Gaza—Noura Erakat shows how the strategic deployment of law has shaped current conditions. Over the past century, the law has done more to advance Israel's interests than the Palestinians'. Law is politics, and its meaning and application depend on the political intervention of states and people alike. Within the law, change is possible. International law can serve the cause of freedom when it is mobilized in support of a political movement. Given the flagrant disregard for international law in the case of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, this book offers necessary and timely insights into tangible action that each of us can take. (photo)
